Law of Attraction: a Reflection of Islam

Introducing the Law of Attraction

The Law of Attraction the term used when one is able to hold a request in their mind in such a way that the Universe responds and unfolds it into existence. This is a latent ability that lies within all humans regardless of their age, nationality, or background.

Many find the Law of Attraction a new age empty promise due to the lack of clarity on how it plays a role among many other perceivable and imperceivable laws in our lives. It’s imperative to realize that we exist in many worlds simultaneously that affect each other directly or indirectly, however it is the combination of utilizing rules of each world that allows things come into existence within our human experience.

The most obvious picture I can paint is this:

  • No matter how good your understanding of physics is, it will not directly fill your stomach with food.
  • No matter how good one becomes at cooking it won’t directly manifest you a lover, although it can play a huge role.
  • No matter how well you understand and apply the Law of Attraction in an energetic sense, it will not replace the physical movement and work required to get the end result.

On the other hand, the Law of Attraction plays such an important role in our lives moment to moment that it would be negligent of us to completely overlook it.

Prerequisites: An Open Heart + Logic / Reasoning / Science

Before we begin, I’d like to note that I’ve found that Islam is most attractive to people who value logic, reasoning, and science. All of the areas that the Quran touches upon are revolutionary and ahead of its time. Here is a short list of examples from the Quran that were found to be scientifically true much later in history:

  • Rotation of the sun on its own axis
  • Shape of our planet like an egg
  • Life is created from water
  • Developmental stages of the human embryo
  • Natural separation of salt water and freshwater
  • Mountains play a role of holding the earth together
  • The ozone layer acts as a protective shield
  • Iron is a material came originally from space
  • Legal inheritance system that balances the rights of parents, children, spouse, and relatives
  • Healing attributes of honey and how it is formed within bees

Open to All people

In my short span of learning Islam, I find that the Law of Attraction not only is aligned with Islam but also is a reflection of its teachings.

Both, the Law of Attraction as well as the Quran carry messages that are universal and apply to everyone regardless of their religious, cultural, or socioeconomic background.

Knowing that we are all using synonyms based on own cultural upbringings and backgrounds is key to understanding that the mechanisms of the Law of Attraction and Source behind it are universal and open to all.

Take note that the Islam is open to the idea of calling on the Creator in whatever respectful way your are comfortable with.

Quran: 17:110
“Say, ‘Call upon Allah or call upon the Most Merciful. Whichever [name] you call — to Him belong the best names.’ …”

Being able to use whatever name you’re most comfortable with will play a big role in applying the Law of Attraction in your own life. It also allows us to learn and cross pollinate ideas across languages, cultures, and other differences between us all.

Manifestation is a Response to Our Being: Reliance and Connection

Most people want to use the Law of Attraction to gain a sense of certainty of bending reality in order to guarantee certain outcomes in their life. And although manifesting has been presented this way from popularized books like ‘the Secret’, the truth is that that certainty is with the Source of everything.

From an Islamic perspective, the infinite galaxies and countless dimensions are all created and orchestrated by the will and intention of the Creator. And everything is easy for the Creator to bring to reality.

Quran 36:82–83
“Is not He who created the heavens and the earth Able to create the likes of them? Yes, [it is so]; and He is the Knowing Creator.
His command is only when He intends a thing that He says to it, ‘Be,’ and it is.”

Everything is easy for the Originator of the world as we know it. And furthermore, the Creator is aware of all the endless possibilities of the future and which ones are being selected to be lived out.

Quran 31:34
“Indeed, Allah [alone] has knowledge of the Hour and sends down the rain and knows what is in the wombs. And no soul perceives what it will earn tomorrow, and no soul perceives in what land it will die. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted.”

Having a strong understanding that the Most Merciful, the Creator of love and kindness, is omnipotent and aware of all things is key to be able invest our trust and reliance.

The most critical part about applying the Law of Attraction,to get something manifested, is to tap into Source and request for it. Luckily, we come with that already installed into our physical hardware when we are born.

Quran 50:16 “And We have already created man and know what his soul whispers to him, and We are closer to him than [his] jugular vein.”

Since anything and everything is known to the Creator, anything we feel, think, or experience is also known to the Creator. We have a direct connection with something beyond anything we can imagine and it is this connection where our power of intention and manifestation comes from.

It is though our thoughts, emotions, and calling out that the Creator chooses to respond back to us and redesign our lives accordingly. This doesn’t require stretching ones imagination too far as most popular religions adhere to a some idea of God being All Knowing.

In fact, this idea cascades outside of the realm of religion, and is in the forefront of secular findings who have discovered and apply the Law of Attraction. Writers such as Esther Hicks, Wayne Dyer, and Lola Jones agree that our intentions and thoughts change our reality and that Source, Grace, or Presence super-cedes the law of attraction.

Anything You Desire In This Life Can Be Received

Quran 3:145 “…If any Do desire a reward in this life, We shall give it To him; and if any Do desire a reward in the Hereafter, We shall Give it to him. And swiftly shall We reward those that (serve us with) gratitude.”

Two critical points really stick out to me from this:

  • For all practical purposes, according to Islam, there is a way to get anything we want in our current life even if we completely disregard the next life.
  • An attitude of gratitude is a key player in acquiring manifestations.

Regarding gratitude, Psychiatrist and PhD David R. Hawkins, has done extensive research on human consciousness and has written many findings on his book Power vs. Force. He has also found that gratitude (field of Love) exists on the higher end of the spectrum of consciousness. Higher levels of consciousness allow for a flow of health as well as reasoning and critical thinking.

Dua — Calling Out for Help

Quran 25:77 “What care would my Lord give you if it were not for your dua?”

In Islam, there are different categories of prayer. Dua means to invoke or call upon. It is the type of prayer that is portrayed in western movies when people say their prayers before bed. It is the type of prayer that is directly speaking to God and asking for something specific and relevant at the time. It is not required to be spoken aloud, it can be spoken in one’s heart or emotions.

In the Law of Attraction, it’s what we carry in our hearts, our minds, our emotions, our energy that we experience the Universe responding to. If we did not turn our attention and ask from within, what manifestations and care could we possibly expect to receive? This law is completely aligned with Islam.

Spiraling Upwards or Spiraling Downwards

Quran 14:7 “And [remember] when your Lord proclaimed, ‘If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor]; but if you deny, indeed, My punishment is severe.’”

We see this in the Law of Attraction, when we focus our minds and emotions on what is going right, the easier it is to find more things we can do. The more we stay in a state of gratitude, the more things start to spin in a positive direction. as well

And the opposite is just as true. The moment we take things for granted or get complacent, things start to die down. When we get content and stop trying, relationships, business, health all begin to decay. And it’s especially clear when we are unappreciative of someone who shows us love in our life, that relationship suffers and we end up in a state of loss.

There are countless examples of this.

  • In Jiu Jitsu, the moment you focus on what isn’t working is the moment that you run out of options and lose. But when an arm is pinned and we focus on all the other limbs that are free, suddenly we have a variety of options that we can still do.
  • Or when hydroplaning in a car, wherever you focus increases the probability of where you are going to end up. Focusing on where you don’t want to crash, makes it really difficult not to crash. Focusing on getting back on the road allows you to almost automatically miraculously get back on the road..

Unlimited Positive Resources to Spiral Upwards From

Quran 14:34 “And He gave you from all you asked of Him. And if you should count the favor of Allah, you could not enumerate them. Indeed, mankind is most unjust and ungrateful.”

Here is a great example of a reservoir of things going our way. In any situation, in order for something to go wrong so many more things need to be going right. There are so many prerequisites in order to be late to an important event. You have to know of it, have a sense of belonging there, you need to have been born, and your genes and cells have to be working perfectly.

This type of thinking is encouraged with some tough love from the Quran

Quran 67:23 “Say, ‘It is He who has produced you and made for you hearing and vision and hearts; little are you grateful.’ ”

Quran 7:10 “And We have certainly established you upon the earth and made for you therein ways of livelihood. Little are you grateful.”

In order to be inconvenienced or let down, so many things have to be going right.

  • We need our memories to work, the brain has so many complicated responsibilities that it has to do perfectly.
  • We need the ability to understand our environment, the ability to hear, see, and make sense of what’s happening.
  • We need to have a sense of belonging and place in society relative to the people around us.

If you’re reading this, your eyes work, your memories work, you are educated and have a status in society, you won the sperm race and were born!

There’s an endless list of things to be excited about. At any given moment we can choose to turn our inner GPS back to gratitude and find a firm footing in life. Creating momentum is momentum to taking life where you want to go.

Executive Summary

We are connected to the Most Merciful closer than our own bodies and we’re promised that there is a way to get anything we want in this life. We are mentally, emotionally, and energetically connected to the Source of all things in such a way that we can make requests with our thoughts, feelings, and intentions. From our perspective we experience the Universe unfolds in a way that our reality is custom-made to how we are being.

When we align and exist in a state of gratitude, good things come smoothly and when we are ungrateful or focus on what’s wrong, our life spirals accordingly.

Luckily, there’s an endless supply of things to be grateful for regardless of where we are in life. We just need to extend our wings and catch the wind to soar.

I hope I have kept my writing in the spirit of Islam that is relevant and useful to people regardless of their background. I have written this with the intention of bringing us all as a human family together and any mistakes I have made I ask the Most Merciful to look over them.
